RUNNING VS NON-RUNNING

What if my vehicle won’t start or is broken down? Can a non-operative or inoperative vehicle be transported? A non running vehicle can be transported; however, additional charges will apply. In order to provide you with correct information, we will need to know the true condition of the vehicle. For example, it is important that a non operating vehicle rolls forward and in reverse, steers and brakes. Vehicles that do not meet this criterion can still be moved, however, may require special equipment for loading. Global Auto Transportation will move cars for insurance companies, insurance recovery, auto auctions, and salvage auctions, including both running and non-running cars and trucks.

Our drivers will take the utmost care in loading and unloading non operational vehicles. If the vehicle will not roll, steer, or brake, such as a chassis, a forklift may have to be used. Damages, if incurred during the loading and unloading, are not transport damage and therefore, non operational vehicles are shipped at the owner’s risk.

In addition to car haulers, Global Auto Transportation has a flatbed truck for hauling non-running vehicles, classics and antique cars needing special attention. It is equipped with a winch and can be used if your vehicle will not start. Additionally, it can be used to haul to salvage yards.

Enclosed Trailer vs. Open Carrier

You will not go far in an online search for a vehicle transport service without coming across a debate over which is better: open auto transport or enclosed auto shipping. Open auto shipping is done by loading your vehicle on a big hauler, similar to the ones you see on the highway, and taking it to where it needs to go. Enclosed auto transport is moving a car in a trailer that is closed in. Enclosed trailers can be soft-sided or hard-sided and generally hold no more than a few cars at a time. Shipping a vehicle in an enclosed trailer eliminates any damage from such elements. However, since extra steps will need to be taken to ensure a car’s safety during the transport, a customer requesting an enclosed auto transport can expect to pay a much higher transport fee for doing so.
