One Semi-Truck, one confused driver, and a wrecked restaurant basically sums up the events of Monday Morning in Monck Corner.

A semi-truck crashed into the side of Huddle House restaurant on Monday near 1:40 am. The crash frightened the employees greatly but they were unharmed. They were struck by some debris but nothing major has been reported.

Details about the crash are pretty limited. It is known that the semi truck ran a stop light before crashing into the restaurant. Further investigations showed that the driver was speeding on US Highway 17-A and miscalculated the turn onto US Highway 52. The driver was cited for careless operation.

Witnesses reported that the driver exited the vehicle not knowing what happened. He was hospitalized with injuries but none of them were life threatening.

The crash caused severe damage to the restaurant. The semi truck went straight through the building ending all the way in the rear of the eatery. The crash was very loud and almost sounded like nails on a chalkboard.

The semi truck was owned and operated by a company based in Tennessee, a Covenant Transport. The company is well aware of the crash but has yet to comment.
