Chandler sits in Maricopa County, southeast of Phoenix. As of 2015, the population was over 260,000, according to the US Census. Chandler is famous for its annual Ostrich Festival. Back in the 1900s, agriculture was the primary business of the city. Cotton, corn, and alfalfa were grown. There were also many ostrich farms in the area, which contributed to the fad for the feathers in women’s hats at that time. The festival carries on today.
There are also several historical places throughout the city, including the historic McCullough-Price House. For those who like nature, there are several parks and desert areas. Some of these include the Desert Breeze Park, Veterans Oasis Park, and the Sonoran Desert. For more history, there is the Arizona Railway Museum, with antique trains on display.
