Gilbert is located southeast of Phoenix, within Maricopa County. It was once known as the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World” and is now the most populated incorporated town in the US. In fact, the population of Gilbert has been growing at a high rate. Back in 1980, it had an estimated population of just over 5,5000 residents. After the 2010 census, there were over 200,000 people living there.
Like much of scenic Arizona, Gilbert has many parks and places for nature-lovers to visit. There is the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, along with the San Tan Mountains Regional Park, with over 10,000 acres of desert, hiking trails, and even wildlife exhibits. There is also the Veterans Oasis Park.
